Does Anybody know more about this. Did some scientist prove that there is a connection between depression and Borna Virus for humans yet? I can only read some speculations. Or is the improve on Amantadine only because of ist psychotropic abilities? Anyone up-todate????

I've compiled some borna virus research at http://www.neurotransmitter.net/bornavirus.html
Evidence seems to support the assumption that amantadine is a more effective antidepressant in borna virus infected depressive patients than in non-infected depressed people. There's still a small bit of controversy surrounding the borna virus/depression link, but I think that the available evidence is supportive of a connection. I suspect that some people have a genetic or neurophysiological predisposition to developing depression after becoming infected with the borna virus; hopefully, someone will look into this possibility sometime in the future.

Today, I talked to a virologist at veterinary university, and she told me that they recently made a study and tested 300 people from a local hospital for Borna Virus. Only 1 was positive. She further told me, that *50%* of Japanese (I cant remember it clearly, maybe she said asian in general, but I think japanese is right) are infected with borna virus! So I guess there is really no clear connection between dression or other mental disorders and Borna.
They also test me for Borna + Antibodies (just ~60 euro). Was quite a funny story. I had to bring my own blood samples, which my family doctor has made. The veterinarian arent allowed to do that.
In a week, I will have my results. I will tell you, if I am Borna Positvegreetings
