I have posted several times and am currently taking lamictal and have hae a question. Has anyone experienced severe appetite loss with lamictal? I am now at 200 mg per day, and 2 days ago went to 150 due to this problem.
I am also pulling myself out of a somewhat severe setback from depression, as I qut taking my AD's to try to go it alone with lamictal. I have been back on nortriptyline 30 mg/day and zoloft 50mg day for a couple weeks now along with the lamictal and am doing much better. I look forward to your comments and feedback.
Thanks.

Linette,
I am currently taking 400 mgs of lamictal and have absolutely no appetite. This has been going on for 2 weeks, since I reached the 400 mg dose.
I posted about this the other day and someone responded that eating is a problem for them on lamictal is well.I see my pdoc tomorrow and I'm going to ask about this. At the moment, I am carrying an extra 30lbs due to Zyprexa use, so this side effect is not entirely unwelcome. Still, even when I know I shoud eat, the thought of food makes me queasy. I have to force myself to eat high protein foods for energy.
Best of luck to you and keep us posted...

i am at 200mg of lamictal with 100mg of zoloft, and i have zero appetite. i don't know what to do about it, as i have lost so much weight from depression already. i am too scared to drop my dose down b/c i think it would adversely affect my mood. my psychiatrist wants me to keep titrating up to 300. it is definitely a problem, and i have been trying to drink protein shakes but i am so sick of them that i just have look at one and i feel nauseated.
i consulted with the nutritionist i have been seeing and she said to eat frequently, just small amounts, to not even try to eat a meal if it is that overwhelming. she said little things like cheese and crackers, peanut butter crackers, small homemade milkshakes every couple of hours. this is what i am going to try, i'll let you know how it goes.
good luck guys,
liz
