Today, 2 December 2003, is one year on Nardil.
Over this time Nardil has been a blessing, either brilliant for depression or anxiety, social phobia, derealization etc etc or ball at once!.
Twice I've come off Nardil very briefly. Let me explain- On Nardil life is a rainbow and nothing can fail. I feel confident that anything will be good. That's why I stupidly tried to come off Nardil- I was pushing for 100% recovery from OCD in addition to the killer effects of Nardil! Greedy pig! Should have just augmented Nardil!
But on Nardil I am now careful to not become too confident. It is a blessing and I appreciate it's brilliance.
In this year I have accomplished so much (except when I went of Nardil- stupid!) in so many areas of my life.
On Nardil I don't run from life- I can accept it.
1 year later and Nardil still reigns supreme....
Ace.

I am glad to hear this as I have followed you going on and off it for some time. It is well known that AD's often quit working if you start and stop them. Been there, done that.

Ace. You have been a true inspiration. I haven't been around much but your posts are always inspirational. I only reiterate what st james said. Stay on what works and don't get greedy. 90% relief is a whole lot better than 0% relief. By the way things are going pretty good with me. 300mg of effexor mixed with just 300mg of lithium, and I have felt better for the last few months than I have at any point since Celexa pooped out on me which was a little over a year ago. Hopefully, this will continue to work, but if not, your posts have convinced me that an MAOI is the way to go.

Ace,
I've been following you and nardil since you started. Happy Anniversary! I have a question though...I have terrible derealization/depersonalization and have only found help for it for about 5 day on lamictal. Nothing else has helped much and I believe it drives my depression and anxiety. If you had to make a guess, what pharmacological property of nardil do you think has cured your dr/dp? Elevated dopamine levels perhaps?
Please let me know. I'd also like to know what your dp/dr was like.
Many Thanks and congrats.

> Ace,
> I've been following you and nardil since you started. Happy Anniversary!Thankyou! I took Nardil out for a nice night on the town and we got real cosy a bit later in the night! It was a blaster of an anniversary!!
I have a question though...I have terrible derealization/depersonalizationI have exactly the same thing! Extreme deralization with extreme phobic anxiety.I have derealization attacks (or I HAD them, before Nardil saved my rectum!) Also depresonalization which started when I talked to myself in a mirror when real young.
and have only found help for it for about 5 day on lamictal.Lamictal is a popular treatment for DR/DP. But Nardil kills it.
Nothing else has helped much and I believe it drives my depression and anxiety.

> If you had to make a guess, what pharmacological property of nardil do you think has cured your dr/dp? Elevated dopamine levels perhaps?Really hard to extrapolate. I would say mainly a combo of elevated GABA and DOPAMINE (both through Nardil). Also, norepinephrine could come into play. serotonin is involved but definately is not the only player.
> Please let me know. I'd also like to know what your dp/dr was like.dp/dr was hell for me. Constantly running home to my house when going out. Taking sometimes 10 Valium at a time out of pure terror. Trying to drug myself to sleep to avoid the dr/dp feelings.
Thankfully Nardil came into my life and washed it down the drain where it belongs. I can go out at night time when on nardil. This is when my dr/dp was at it's worse. It's a miracle what Nardil has done.

Ace,
Nardil 90mg, Amisulpride, 100mg.
