how sedating is remeron?

Posted by corsocomo on December 1, 2003, at 4:12:31

hi all...

i've been 30mg celexa for about a 3 weeks now... had tremendous difficulty getting and staying asleep...can only get to sleep at about 8-9am in the morning and staying in it for only 3-4hrs...

my pdoc put me on 7.5mg imovane and 0.25mg xanax which didnt really do much at all for the insomnia...it's been really frustrating...she doesn't want to prescribe ambien and instead gave me 15mg remeron...does anyone have any experiences on this? will it definitely put me to sleep? (she says it will knock me out cold...really hope so!!!)

any input is greatly appreciated! =)

I've been on Remaron for six months. I find it does help me sleep, especially at a dose of 45mg. See Gidon's post just above. 15 mg knocked her right out.

For me it helps and I sleep more peacefully, too. No hangover in the morning. It's not a SURE thing, but then neither is Ambien (although it's the best sleeping med ever made in my opinion - also does have abuse potential).

You said that you have been on Celexa at 30 mg for 3 weeks. When did you first start on Celexa? Does the Celexa work well for you? If it does, you might be better off on Ambien than on Remeron. But give Remeron a chance. Hopefully it will not make you tired the next day. If it does however, you would probably be better off with Ambien. Ambien is very safe and effective.

thanx for the input guys =)

oh...i think there might be some misunderstanding here...i'm actually on both celexa and remeron...30 and 15mg respectively... celexa is doing me a whole world of good...other then the insomnia part. my mind keeps racing.

tried remeron last night...it knocked me out...but i had a really unrestful sleep...with bad dreams...not a good experience.

anyway...i'll try asking my pdoc for ambien the next time i go. have already tried it actually..from a friend. find it really good! but my pdoc said she'd rather me not be on it. dunno why...but guess she has her reasons..

hope u guys are doing better too!
