Hey folks...well I have some, ugh, interesting news to report. Yesterday my doctor raised my Prozac 40 mg of Prozac in the morning, and 60 mg at night. He also increased my Zyprexa from 5 mg once daily to 5 mg twice daily..in morning and evening with Prozac. I also take 0.5 mg's of clonazepam 3x a day.
So...Tonight (Sat), I was at my brothers, and his neighbour was visiting. Well his neighbour had an accident at work, and chopped two of his fingers off. That was about a month ago...and now he has a *massive* stash of 100mg tabs of pure codeine, oxycontin, and T3's. So, he loaded me up, and I took two Oxycontins, as well as two 100mg tabs of codeine. I know...everyone will say tssskk tssskkk...but with my medication increases, I have started to come to *almost* a remission in my depression/anxiety.
I've got a months supply of the other stuff, and will have such for as long as I need. I certainly didn't *crave* the pills, but in combo with the Zyprexa, Prozac, and clonazepam, it has raised my mood into such a beautiful, comfortable state. Even last night, without the other meds, just Prozac, clonazepam, and Zyprexa, I have started to feel a beautiful mix of calm, tranquility. I will use the other pain meds for when I get both a migraine and bad sinus headache. My point being, is that I confirm narcotics, under rational use and used safely, I think can greatly help depression/anxiety/social phobia. But, I must say, the *large* Prozac dose, with the Zyprexa and clonazepam, I think are about as good as you can possibly get for depression, anxiety, social phobia...etc. Knock on wood...but this is the *sweetest* group of meds I have ever taken. I know people have hesitancy's about Zyprexa, and it is too bad the cost is so much, but with VERY high dose Prozac and clonazepam, I have really progressed, and would add that people should *seriously* consider a combo of an atypical antipsychotic with HIGH doses of an SRI. The SRI's seem to have a slight different effect at very high doses, and I know of a few prominent psychiatrists who believe 100-120 mg's of an SRI with aggressive dosing (after adjusting to the med), and the atypical antipsychotic, are one of the most powerful combos of psych meds available. Sticking with it, slowly building up over a year, also seems a good choice, as does staying on it *permanently.* The Prozac/Atypical combo seems like the 'Porsche' of medications. Also, if you can ask you doctor about prescribing a narcotic for difficult times, you may even reach a wonderful state of human potential. Just keep an eye on doses, as long as with the narcotics, you aren't taking more and more...
So, yes, I maybe a somewhat 'prescription junkie', but most of my drugs are perfectly legit, and add-on's for difficult times don't seem harmful. (I've used both benzo's and narcotics over decades without the need to increase intake.)
Again...be aggressive with an SRI dose, stick with it for min. of a year, and very, very deeply consider a good dose of an atypical antipsychotic. That 100 mg's of Prozac feels *nothing* like 20 mg's could provide...and maybe they even change in their actions a bit at higher doses.
Best and peace...
Jay
