Anyone know what a typical dose of Wellbutrin is, and what the maximum is? I'm on 300mg a day total of Wellbutrin XR (I think that's it -- it was the first timed release version, not the new one).
I'm just starting to feel bad again and was wondering if increasing the dose would be helpful (with doc's permission, of course).

The chances of suffering a seizure increases significantly at doses above 400mgs twice/day.

I don't know what the maximum is. But if it worked previously, an increase would probably be the best next step.

Max dose is normally thought of as 450mgs. I think some doc are using XL version and augmenting with the standard version (not extended release). Also, the studies on the seizure potential of this med were done at doses higher than 450mgs and seizures seemed to occur in individuals with a comorbid bulemia. The med never really shook this distinction and the fine points of the study results got lost in the fear. Talk with your doc and I hope you work it out.
I'm doing 150mg of XL and was ready to ditch it when it seems to be helping and SE abating somewhat, so I'll give it a bit more time. I researched the h*ll out of it before I went on it and what I said above was the "clif" notes of my research.
Good Luck.

always ask your doc. But there is a such a thing as dopamine toxicity. Over 450mg in the past has been considerd a contributing factor. Im not sure its life threatning but may under mine your success.

I stand corrected: Kelly D. is correct. Maximum daily dose is 450 Mgs.

Why augment the XL version with a different version?

Add a Xl 150 mgs. if you were at 300mg XL to add up to 450 mgs. That option could be to used. If you wanted to not add THAT amount (say 100mgs) to your dosing, other versions would have to be used as XL is only in 150 mgs. and 300 mgs. strength as far as I'm aware. Sometimes, it's the fact of adding a "quick" absorption version along with an extended release.
I could be wrong, though.

I take 400 mgs of Wellbutrin. 200 in morning(7:00) And 200 at lunch (12:00). My boss' 15 yr old daughter Takes 150 of SR version in morning and night, And 50mgs of the original version at lunch time. She is also PX lots of stimutants and Abilify. I thin she needs a 2nd opinion.
