Can anyone tell me is Wellbutrin given mostly for depression or could it work for GAD? I know the two are closly related. I don't like SE of Effexor and Sexual side effects of Zoloft are the pits. What about withdrawl from Wellbutrin is it anything like effexor?
Please any experience good and or bad I would like to know. I'm trying to find something that works.
Thanks

You are correct that GAD and depression are closely related. Wellbutrin can cause jitteriness. So you might not worry as much but you may feel a jittery type of nervousness. Withdrawal from Wellbutrin isn't suppose to be too bad. A lot of people take Wellbutrin along with either Zoloft or a different SSRI since Wellbutrin can help with sexual side effects of SSRI's.

Hello,
I take wellbutrin for major depression and I've never had anxiety problems in the past. But when I first started taking WB, I was angry, irritable, and anxious. I still have some anxiety issues at times...from WB....but I'm OK with that side effect so far...or I should say it's manageable for me. But I don't know how it would affect someone who has had anxiety issues in the past...
Overall, though, it's been great for me. More an *upper* type of reaction for me than the almost-dead feeling I got from Paxil, which seemed to shut everything down.....
Good luck!
Susan

I've been taking Wellbutrin for about 6 months an I'm pleased with the results. It has helped my anxiety and depression. I use to experience intense derealization and the Wellbutrin has helped tremendously with this anxiety symptom. I'm now waiting for it to totally eliminate this symptom. Maybe I need to add something else like Klonopin to help with this remaining spaciness.
The side effects were minimum and subsided in about 1-2 weeks. I did not have the insomnia or burst of energy like others who have posted here. I take 300mg. of Wellbutrin XL in the evening an I'm able to sleep very well at night.
I wish you the best in finding what works best for you.
