> Hi, I've been on Lexapro (10mg) for about 4 months now. I have had very few side effects, and my depression is gone. My doctor wants to keep me on the meds until February and then start weaning me off. Lately I've had a problem with itching, at first I thought I had been bitten by spiders. Does anyone else have a problem with itching?

Hi :-)
So glad to hear that your depression is gone, and that you have had very few sisde effects!! That's awesome!!
I was on Lexapro-10mg a day for about 4 months also.
I no longer take Lexparo and I never had a problem with itching, but maybe you can try Benadryl or Cogentin to help you with this.
Best wishes,
Kristen

That's really interesting. One of the things I have had since I've quit Lexapro (about 3 weeks ago) are hives - I, too, thought I had a spider bite on my neck. I had a HUGE hive there, and it was unusually shaped (very elongated, almost a sharp oval). I also had very PAINFUL mouth sores for the first two weeks or so, about 4 or 5 at a time. As soon as one would heal, another would pop up. I figured it was due to stress after going off the medication. Maybe not...????

Thanks for your messages...I think it is the meds. I hate the thought of going off, because it has done so much for me. I think I will learn to live with the hives until after the holidays. I know it will be bad then....I lost my best friend in June, and we spent alot of time together during the holidays, plus both of our birthdays are in December....guessing it will be a bad month.

FWIW, I have always been a bit "prone" to itching and Lexapro has made it slightly worse. However, one thing I have noticed about Lexapro is that changing the dose more slowly *does* help mitigate the side-effects.

when i was on lexapro,it gave me a rash.my shrink said this could possibly be an allergic reaction,so i stopped taking it.i mostly had it on my forehead, cleared up once i stopped.it was a bit annoying cos apart from that,i found it worked rather well.

I took Lexapro for about a month and did notice itching, mainly one spot on my neck (where I shave), and random places. I mostly noticed it at bedtime, which was when I took my dose.

Taking Viagra made the itching a LOT worse.

I'm switching back to Lexapro again because the itching was a minor thing compared to the misery I've had with Wellbutrin.
