Hi,
I'm considering having rTMS in America (I'm from the UK), I've been told I need to have a smac 25 blood test before I can have the treatment.
This is not a term my Doctor is familiar with or anyone in the UK and I can't find anything on the internet. Dr Hutto from the treatment centre won't answer any of my questions unless I pay him (which I think is unfair), can anyone on here advise please?

I believe it refers to a general blood chemistry screening involving 25 components to the test. It's kinda an older term. I believe it maybe just a really inclusive blood chemistry test. The one I've heard of is SMA with Chem replacing that older term SMA (it was pronounced like "smack"), with various numbers after to denote how many components are tested: Chem 7, Chem 18 - and forth. Try searching Chem 25. And have your doctor contact to find if this is true. There are many strange abbr. and terms used in labs, medical stuff. Good luck.
