My band has its first gig coming up this Saturday. I'm not nervous about playing in front of people again at all... I mean, I thrive on that kind of attention. But I always used to use propranolol an hour before going onstage to keep my hands steady while playing guitar. I don't really get nervous, but my hands sure do, lol -- and a lead guitarist can't afford to have shaky hands while onstage. Anyway, my stepdad has a bunch of blister packs of Coreg (carvedilol; 6.25mg), a nonselective alpha- and beta-blocker. I know taking one won't hurt, but I wonder if it'll be as helpful as propranolol?

I have no idea if Coreg will help you Michael, but I'm so happy that you will be playing again :). That's fabulous!!!! Have a fun time and let us know how it goes.

P.S. Klonopin takes my physical anxiety symptoms away and makes me a bit disinhibited...maybe take your dose right b4 you play???

Go for the propanolol (Inderal). It is well known for alleviating the symptoms associated with performance anxiety (for example giving a speech, going onstage).
Coreg (carvedilol) is serious medication for patients who suffer with cardiomyopathy and to help prevent patients from going into congestive heart failure. Taking "1" pill may or may not make you feel worse than before you took it. Do you want to risk nausea, dizziness, etc. on your big night? Don't think so. . .
I know of no literature which would support your thesis nor of any anedoctal evidence that Coreg would steady your hand as you strum the night away. Have Fun! Anne :)
