High
Some of you may already have read my post on the 30th.I'll keep things short and to the point.
I'm suffering from some kind of anergic depression/ sleeping all the time, basicly NO motivation which really annoys me, hate myself for being lazy. Think I may have ADD inattentive type, but thats the least of my worries at the moment!I'm on Fluoxetine generic 40mg, this is helping my mood I think, but I feel tired constantly, have no motivation. Plus when I triad to go of it I felt really rough, withdrawals?
Am thinking of seeing Dr Cosgrove at the Bristol Priority clinic, he sounds good judging on his writing, does anyone have any experience?
Can't really afford it cos I'm a student but I'm desperate to do something.Any advice on doctors and medication much apreciated!

Well I'm interested in Dr Cosgrove at the Bristol priority clinicl, its got a website, but I'm afraid I cant remember the adress, should be able to find it easily on Google using his name.
What got me interested in him was that I'd read some of his articles and he seems to understand the importance of dopamine in depression.
He specilises in anxiety and treatment resistent depression, so he might be good for you.The catch?
It costs &260 for intial apointment then drugs are more.
I really don't know if I can afford to see him coz its so expensive and I am a student, you know what that means!

Hi,
I have seem Dr Blacker at the Bristol Priory hospital and he was very good.
He finally diagnosed me with Seasonal Adjustment Disorder (SAD). After years of suffering re-current Depression.
Like you not only did I have the emotional problems of depression but also the no energy and complete lack of motivation.
He made loads of suggestions including changing my medication to a dual action variety which should hopefully work on both the emotional symptoms and the exhaustion etc.
I had to pay privately in the end as my GP has just fobbed me off for years.
It cost about £125 for a consultation but well worth it in my opion !!
Hope this is helpful.

Hi there - theres mention of a good psych. in Wales in Sunbathing in the Rain by Gwyneth Lewis - might want to check it out. Also, David Healy is meant to be good, although don't know where he stands on meds front.
Hope you find someone.
If your referral is taking ages, you can phone the PALS Service (Patient Advice and Liaison) in your area and get them to chase it ... can help to speed things along.

sounds an awful situation. i saw in news that one pt was looked at by TWO psych nurses within minutes of her suicide. her treatment sounds suspiciously degraded to me. if you are in carmarthenshire area i think you do have more choices, possibly. 1) do make complaint to patient advocate in area 2) check out the service user groups there and make inquiries 3) just go to the Well...(forget name?) Centre and say you need an urgent appoit, MUST see someone soon, as you are in great distress, etc. Tell them you need it today at best or as near, as you are getting worse and worse. Try these ideas, if you like them. The advocate might help most, the patient group might offer new ideas and possible contacts, and the personal agitation can do heaps. good luck. and please don't accept it when a pdoc or nurse or whoever says there's nothing more we can do to help, when they haven't tried everything, in all sorts of possible combinations, and the fact is we are all constantly changing in many, many ways so all of those new combinations of previously tried things haven't been tried on the new person that you are now....you know???
This is the end of the thread.
