I currently take 60 mg/day of Adderall XR. It works well but I have noticed lately that I stay, or am very easily angered, usually over absolutly nothing. When I don't take Adderall I don't have this. So... my question is to those who have taken Dexedrine or Adderall and then Dexedrine. Does Dexedrine cause less CNS stimulation than Adderall? What is the difference in mental alertness and physical reaction to the meds? Thanks for any help anyone can give, and yes, I have been diagnosed many, many, many times with adhd.

I take both. Dexedrine sr(30 mg) in the morning with 12.5 mg of adderall. Dexedrine sr seems to work better than adderall xr. I have noticed that I get angrier on adderall. Adderall xr also caused me a very dry throat which is better now that I don't take as much. I am also thinking of asking the doc to put me back on dextrostat. Dextrostat is a little bit harder on my stomach though. Hope this helps

How does Dextrostat differ from Adderall and Dexadrine?

Adderall made my 15 yr. old son very uncharacteristically angry, yet Dexedrine did not do this. I also feel I was angrier on Adderall (but worst of all, it caused anxiety/mood swings for me.) I am no fan of it.

Frustrated as hell. I talked to my doc today about switching from Adderall to Dexedrine. He said no. He said their both the same thing it was just in my mind that they would have different effects!!! This guy is just a GP, are most pdoc's open to prescribing this sort of thing?

You need a new doc...they are not the same thing. If you go to a pdoc instead of a GP you won't have to go to the doc every month to get your prescription. Mine mail's my script to me.
Do a search on Adderall and dexedrine and print up for your doc. Dextrostat is a pretty good form of dexedrine. There is dexedrine sr, that can be tough...some insurance companys have an age restriction on it. Hope this helps

It sounds like your Dr.ain,t even got time(or sense)enough to look in his PDR.Aderrall is an old Diet pill from the 60,s (called Obetrol). When the contract ran out,Shire Pharm.bought out the marketing rights and re-packaged it as an ADD med. It,s made up of 3-4 different Amphetamine salts, where as Dex is made up of one.Dumb Dr.!When I took Adderrall,it made me feel like ya,ll were describing, all nasty feeling, sorta.I switched to Dexedrine and felt much "smoother".Festus

The generic name for dexedrine is DEXTROAMPHETAMINE. Dextrostat is just another form. I do not like the generic tablet dexedrine, but for some reason dextrostat and generic dexedrine sr work pretty well. I stopped taking dextrostat because it was kind of hard on my stomach. Dextrostat doesn't seem to dry me out as bad as adderall and you can eat a tiny bit with it without it effecting how your medication works. If you don't wait an hour before you eat anything after taking adderall it doesn't work as well and or will delay the onset of it for an hour or so. Its best to wait 2 hours after you eat to take it. Sometime adderall makes me feel kind of grumpy...it depends on how much sleep I've had. I think I slept better when I was taking dextrostat as my short acting medication.
Hope this helps

I'm quick to anger on Adderall, too. Never noticed it so so much on Dex.
