What's the danger of drinking, even moderately, while taking SSRIs, such as Paxil, Lexapro and Prozac? Apparently these antidepressants are processed in the liver, so I've read that anything else, like alcohol, would place severe strain on the liver and may do irreparable damage.
Thanks for helping.

everything you pop in your mouth is processed in the liver.

I heard a lot of different things about ssris and alcohol but I think "irreparable damages" is excessive ... When you take this stuff is better *not exaggerate* with alcohol, but having a couple of glasses of wine won't take you to the hospital. If you exaggerate the worst thing that can happen in the short term is a very big hang over, in the long term is just a double stress for the liver, so, knobody knows, it depends on your liver : ) consider also that alcohol is a depressing substance and that some people on some SSRIs get drunk easier ... but don't obsess yourself about the alcohol thing ... it's the easiest way to drink more ;-)
