Hi:
I was initially diagnosed as "Depressed with Anxiety" and prescribed Celexa. That really helped with the constant worrying thoughts that would never stop, but my insomnia remained and eventually I became more apathetic and depressed. Once I stopped Celexa, ALL my anxiety returned, including panic attacks, but I did not get a return of the CONSTANT ANTICIPATORY worry!
I was given Klonopin (1mg) per day, which stopped the physical anxiety symptoms and made me very relaxed. It seemed to make me disinhibited though, and I made some bad decisions that caused me more anxiety!!
Then, I was re-diagnosed as GAD and started on BuSpar, with Klonopin to take, as needed for situations that I knew would be stressful. I have been on this combo for about 7 weeks, gradually increasing the BuSpar to 30 mg per day.
Right now, I feel more "slow" at this dose, somewhat lethargic and low feeling, but not as generally anxious. I still do have high anxiety days, but the Klonopin takes care of that! What I'm looking for is a lowering of anxiety, without lowering my energy/mood! I have to carry on with this experiment for about 3 more weeks, before my pdoc reviews. So I, too, am looking at options out there. How have you found your combo to work? Downsides?
Hope my "story" helps!
Jas
