I posted earlier asking about the effects of taking Prozac while going through all the withdrawal symptoms. I only have this to say:
GO TO YOUR DOCTOR NOW AND GET SOME PROZAC!!!
If you're results are anything like what I'm experiencing it is well worth a try. My brain zaps have disappeared within the first 24 hours of taking the pill...more like the first 6-8 hours--once the drug reached peak plasma levels. My head actually feels clear and I can think again! The only drawback is that I am suffereing from some side effects of the Prozac (really upset tummy, nausea, loss of appetite) but I figure it's a small price to pay. Overall, I am feeling significant improvement. Still not 100% but a bit more hopeful, that's for sure.
My doc prescribed 20mg for three days...hopefully that should be enough to carry me through until all the symptoms are gone (Prozac's half life is 7 to 9 days...)
Please give it a try!

The reason i asked about your efexor dosage is because I darn't take any more tan 20 mg of prozac.Ivan Golberg recommends 40 mg prozac for high doses of efexor
thanks--sorry if I'm confusing...must be the withdrawal :-)

Hi have you also tried benadryl for the nausea and flu like feelings. I have been off effexor for 5 weeks now. The withdrawal finally went away after 2 1/2 weeks but the benadryl helped a lot with the sea sick feeling.
I hope you both feel better soon - believe me I know the pain!

Hi Slinky, that's a nice name :)
I was taking 75mg for several months, quit for a 48 hour washout period and then started Welburtin. I have gone off Effexor once before though and that time, i went down to 37.5 (i.e. did more of a proper taper.) Having been through this twice, I've found that it really didn't make any difference.
Are you experiencing withdrawal syptoms while tapering? Wow, that's not good...
