Im having serious weakness in my limbs.
Is this a normal response to ADs?
Wellbutrin 300mg 6 weeks
pdoc is saying weak extremities (esp. legs) is not possible side effect.
Motivaton is good, the limb weakness is overwhelming at times.
I would like to ride it out, but would like to hear if this is common.

What does she/he think is the cause?I would not be surprised if it were the result of Wellbutrin but you might seek other possibilities as well.
Best regards.

I had leg weakness from Desiprimine (I had to stop figure skating - small cost for sanity), so I believe it is possible. You could find the small print on Wellbutrin (it is probably online or your pharmacy will have it) and look for that side effect.
Good luck.

Shes indian and the only formal medical training Im aware of is obg training in india.
There arent many options in this small town. Shes the second one Iv been too, not as bad as the first one.
She says its neurological, go to a neuroloigist. These symptoms began when I started Wellbutrin. According to her all the side effects Ive had are "not possible" since the first med she prescribed.
It just doesnt seem to be a good fit. I cant really discuss these issues with her. I try but she dismisses them and tells me to come back in two weeks
Thanks for asking

Wellbutrin had a bunch of odd side effects for me (although not muscle weakness). My doctor dismissed these as "impossible" and "imaginary", but they certainly stopped as soon as I discontinued the med. You can see frequencies of side effects in test vs. placebo groups on the web -- just do a Google search for Wellbutrin prescribing information.
"Muscle weakness" is listed as an "infrequent" side effect, meaning that it occurred in between 1/100 and 1/1000 subjects receiving the med. So, it appears rare, but not "impossible" (besides, nothing is impossible). Muscle pain was more common, occurring in about twice as many of the group receiving 400 mg WB SR/day as in the placebo group.

Perhaps your dosage is too high. Sometimes doctors need help in figuring out the best dose. I sometimes cut my pills in half before I start on a new pill. If the side effects are tolerable and I am receiving some benefit, then I continue with the medication and slowly increase the dosage if necessary. My brother was helped tremendously by Wellbutrin but had to discontinue it due to side effects (which I will not discuss here).p.s. The SR version of Wellbutrin can be very hard to withdraw from.
Thank you for posting and the best to you as always.

I get a little muscle pain/weakness in the legs (feels like the pain you can have after training in the gym) from the lithium I´m taking. I only feel it
when I going up the stairs. The paper in my med package says that you can feel tired in the arms and legs.DbD

Hi, Femlite,
I answered your question about my WB side effects on the other board, don't know if you saw them.
> Wellbutrin 300mg 6 weeks
> pdoc is saying weak extremities (esp. legs) is not possible side effect.
>>That's really disturbing that your doc says the side effects are not *possible.* As far as I'm concerned, *anything* is possible from these drugs. Another poster left you a link for some side effect information. If it lists the weak muscles, I'd print it off and show it to your doc. S/he has to have a more open mind about this stuff.Personally, I get every side effect in the book, and my side effects tend to take longer to resolve than what most inserts say. But my side effects on Wellbutrin have *all* disappeared now, and it's been about 3 months or so now.
Good luck, I hope you are feeling better,
Susan

The feeling is like walking through water or deep sand. I hope it abates, it is very disturbing when I have childeren to keep up with.
It seems related to elevation in my level of stress, which is pretty regular, since I homeschool.
It feels like the fatigue/ache sensation you get after an adrenaline rush, after a near miss car accident.
Which makes me wonder if adrenaline isnt a factor. just speculatingThanks everyone for the support

> Thanks everyone for the supportYes, it is the Welbutrin. No, it's not in your head. It is what is known as 'muscle rigidity', which Welbutrin can cause. I know this from experience and also my Dr. confirmed this. I don't know how common this is, but I definitely experienced pain and weakness in my knees and other joints. It did go away once I got off of it.
If it is helping you otherwise, you may want to ride it out and see if it gets better. It just may be an SE that will go away eventually. I couldn't tolerate the extreme agitation it caused in me.
I really hope this helps you!!
