Hi. This is my first time posting here. I suffer from BDD and anxiety and have recently gone on 10mg/day of Lexapro (5mg/day for the first couple of weeks). I was feeling pretty ok, even happy, before I started the treatment. Then I took my first pill at bedtime and woke up the next morning completely and utterly depressed, groggy, nauseous, dizzy, and overall feeling like sh*t. The nausea and dizziness I can handle but the depression I can't. Why would it make me depressed? It should have the opposite effect. Has anyone experienced this and can share their knowledge? Thanks.

San Fran,
I was there three weeks ago. I too felt foggy and wierd. It did take the first two weeks to feel more and more like myself. Whats cool is at this point (for me, only 3 weeks in) I feel more like my OLD self...before I started worrying about everything in the world. You should get through the adjustment period. If its too much talk to your doctor. I tried Effexor and for some reason it made me a zombie, while Lexapro has been much better, and is working.

I'm in my fourth week of Lex, the first two weeks I felt better and the last two have been getting worse and worse. I was too depressed to go to my classes today. Feel like doodoo more and more, suppose from other posts I've read it improves in time but feels like i'm either wasting my time on this med or need higher dose. i'm making myself wait for a few more weeks, but its starting to feel like torture. im just as anxious as before, and more tired and more aware of how depressed i have been (or actually more depressed).....anyway

Hi almond,
you may need a dose increase. What dose are you at now?
Take care

Had same experience with Lex
Day 1 was so bad that I didn't have guts to try day 2.
I'm on my 3rd week of Proz 20 mg. Very little side effects.
Anxiety up but tolerable.
Hoping for good things.

I've been on 10 mg for four weeks today...i don't doubt that an increase may be the solution, but why did u suggest it?
This is the end of the thread.
