Lexapro Side Effects

Posted by sassyveg on September 13, 2003, at 11:18:46

Has anyone out there experienced an increase in urination due to Lexapro? I keep getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, which I never did before (I'm only 23, no offense to the older folks out there, but it seems sort of unusual to me), and it's kind of pissing me off, no pun intended. Is this a common side effect, or should I be talking to my doc about this?

For some reason I noticed myself having to go more when taking Lex but I also found myself drinking more water and tea etc.

Now that you mention it~yup, and I was happy to get rid of some of that, toxins, water weight, etc.

I'm not sure it's a common side effect, but just try to drink a lot, a lot of water and if you feel uncomfortable, of course, talk to your prescribing doctor:-)
Don't piss around~no pun inteded.
Take care:-)

One of the common side-effects of Lex is insomnia, and it does not always hit in the way one expects insomnia to hit (as I recently discovered <g>). If you are only noticing increased urination at night, is it possible that the Lexapro is making you a little more prone to waking up during the night (at which point you notice you have to go -- something you would have slept through otherwise).
Just a thought.

I noticed that once I started Lexapro, I get up in the early morning a few times more to urinate, I think it is a side effect.

Thank goodness for your post! I thought that I was imaging that side effect or that I had something wrong with me (UTI, etc.). I haven't been drinking any more water than usual so I wasn't sure what the reason was. It is pretty annoying having to get up in the middle of the night... Hopefully it subsides. :-)
