Hi, it's my first time here. I looked up many websites to get some infomations about my condition, but this forum site seems the best.
I'm 21 years old male, and an Asian.
I've experiencing social phobia and minor OCD for about 4 years, and my treatment started approximately 9 months ago.
My doc first prescribed Paxil...went up to 30mg/day, took for like 5-6 months. However, that didn't work, so we tried Celexa right after Paxil.
Celexa went up to 30mg/day, and took about 3-4 months.
I had taken Celexa just until four days ago.
So, basically it's been four days since I tapered Celexa.None of the above medicines did not work, but depression is kind of gone. Anxiety seems to be lessened, but symptoms of SP still remain.
Another reason why I stopped taking those medz was side effects I could not bear with: diziness, drowsiness, headache and so on.
Anyways, now, I'm experiencing withdrawal effects...I feel extremely dizzy, fatigued, and a little depressed. My first question: How long does it take to go away. It must be different by individual, but I want to hear about your experiences.
Second question: For ppl who have similar conditions like me, what was the most effective medicine you have experienced?
I've had minor OCD symptoms since I was young...symtoms have been changed as I grow.
Four years ago, I started to have dry eye syndrome...not caused by mental disorder I had.One day when I went to school, my eyes got so burning and I suddenly felt great discomfort when I was in public with those eyes. And, I think that's when I started to have social phobia that I never had before.
My doc said keeping thinking about pains from eyes could be caused by OCD, and my SP still remains bcuz of the previous phobic experience I had before with dry eyes.
Anyways, that's my stupid story....
My doctor suggested me try taking MAIO's this time. I've got a list from him, and there are only two: Parnate and Nardil.
From websites, it seems like Nardil is more effective for SP, but more side effects than Parnate.
Any comment is welcome!Thank you.

My guess is that as time goes on, you will feel more and more depressed if you do not resume taking medication. You stopped taking Celexa at 30 mg. That is not a high enough dose for many people. When I took Celexa, I was depressed at 30mg, but felt very good at 60 mg.
I am now on 20 mg of Lexapro. Lexapro is a newer, more potent form of Celexa. Before taking antidepressants, I had severe OCD, SP, anxiety, and depression. I now have hardly any of the above.
I don't know about the dry eye problem. I know that Paxil can cause dry eyes.

Hey rainy,
my suggestion isn't med-related. best way to get responses is to post specifics and/or the drug you have questions about.
Good Luck!

That's strange...my pdoc said he won't go above 40mg of Celexa.
Also, according to many sites about Celexa withdrawal, the withdrawal symptoms are normal and they go away in a few weeks.
Is that wrong info?
Also, my dry eyes are not that severe atm, and they were not caused by medicines.

I have experienced complete relief from my ocd anxiety symptoms from ultram which is used for pain. There have been numerous studies which support this and point that this med acts on the part of the brain implicated with ocd
