Does anyone have experiences with thyroid augmentation ! My doc suggested in to my cocktail:
Effexor: 300 mg XR in the morning
Lithium: plasma lever is about 0.8 mmol/l
Serzone: 200 mg in the evening
Neurontin: 800 mg in the morning an eveningI pooped out now after some stable weeks. Serzone isnt any longer available in Switzerland (liver failures).
I would be very thankful for your help.

> It is not unusual for lithium to effect thyroid function. Have thyroid function tests done first. The serum level is in range, but one parameter is a bit low - near the critical mark. Dont know which parameter. Perhaps subclinical after taking laitium ?! My pdoc says he gives thyroids without looking on the serum levels before starting it as an augmentation - because there isnt any relation between serum level and expected effect.

>Many of us on thyroid meds have docs who do not go by what the tests say, rather they gauge it on how we feel (and a real tip-ioff to whether they would be helpful is subnormal temps - belowe 98.6)....I have taken ADs with thyroid meds and have found that the natural thyroid- Armour seems to help more than the Synthroid/cytomel...I would think it is CERTAINLY worth a try Janis

Thyroid supplementation can definitely help make antidepressants more effective even if a person's thyroid blood level is normal to begin with.
