Does anyone have feedback or advise as to using Effexor for addiction treatment.
I wanted Topiriamte but the Dr. gave me this.
I am still drinking and the Dr. knows this.
Will I die tomorrow ?

Wow, Does your Dr know about the withdrawl associated with effexor...I have not drank in over 11 years and have always been careful not to mess with anything I thought to be addictive but I am having just a horrible time trying to get off of effexor..not saying you will but I would ask your Dr for something different...you might want to check out some of the threads prior to your post. I got real good info from this board (including info I could take to my Dr-since they are not real up on side effects)I don't feel so alone and crazy with the withdrawl symptoms. Just another quick note I am very aware of how my thought process changed and how compulsion was hightened during this process just incase you experience some of the same things. Best of luck

i have been on the effexor xr for 2 weeks now, and i have drank every night still w/ it--i know that i shouldn't , but i feel that need for instant relaxation still. i was prescribed the effexor for anxiety though...is it supposed to help you quit drinking as much?

Effexor is not addictive. Problems coming off it
are not related to addiction, in the standard sence.
