Has anyone noticed that they feel more depressed and agitated after taking benzos or is it just me?

Yes..
The only benzo that doesn't make me so depressed is valium , but then I find i can't sleep after taking it.
Ativan is the worst for making me depressed.
So, no it's not just you :-)

Nope. Benzo's make me calm and unflappable. I ge t more depressed if I add a significant amount of alcohol, but benzo's alone are wonderful for me. Especially Klonopin. I was on 2mg a day for years, and it worked well for impulsive behaviour (cutting) anxiety, and therefore made me less depressed cause I didnt have that constant anxiety.

It really depends- if your main problem is anxiety with depressive tendencies, then benzos work very well. Klonopin can be a little depressing but xanax works well for anxiety and depression. If you are depressed and anxious as a side-effect, then you may need therapy (good in either case) or an AD. best of luck, judy
