REMERON VS SSRIS

Posted by matthhhh on August 10, 2003, at 20:01:03

Ive tried all the ssris but havnt taken lexapro and remeron. ALL make me EXTREMELY EXAUSTED like taking an overdose of sleeping pills. Obviously then, the ssris i have taken are targeting serotonin receptors which promote sleep.

I want a med that targets serotonin receptors which promote activity and increase mood. Enough with this EXAUSTION AND SLEEPINESS. Are lexapro and remeron different? I mean is there anyone out there that has tried like prozac or paxil or another ssri that caused extreme sedation but did really well on remeron or lexapro?

Why cant these drug companies design a serotonin drug that enhances serotonin activity without the sedation?

remeron is (for me) unbelievably sedating...i'm not sure that remeron is what you want to try. It knocks me out like anesethia (sp)..they said higher levels are less sedating too, but I (just me again) was up for a year at 75 mg and longer at 60 before that and I found it much more sedating at those levels. I am very slowly slowly tapering off it, for other reasons.

I am on a very low level going slowly up on lamictal and this drug is not sedating to me at all. It's an anti-convulsant (why i am taking it) but it has anti-depressant properties.

Remeron for me dont make me sedated at 7.5 mg or 15mg.... i been on it for 3 weeks with no affects as of yet.. ? i will be raising to 30mg soon... anyways ask for reboxatine (Vestra, Edronax, Norebox) that will sure make u not sedated.. dont think it is out in the us yet.. but maybe u could buy it from the net somewherew with a prescription from your doctor..

I switched from taking Lexparo in the am to taking it in the evening and it now is less sedating during the day.
