I am thinking of either changing from Celexa to either Serzone or Manerix. I think the SSRI is what is giving me such horrible problems with my stomach.
I did read a study about adding Buspar to a SSRI, that can sometimes help stomach problems caused by SSRI's. I like the way Celexa works on my brain, but not stomach.
Any help and suggestions is appreciated.
Thanks.

I tried Celexa 40 mg with Buspar 20 mg, and found it quite an effective combination for harsh anxiety + depression. The only problem I had was that I felt too demotivated. Not good for a student as I then was. I had stomach issues with Celexa initially, but they disappeared after about a month.

I have been on 30 mg of Buspar (15 in am/15 in pm) for about a year and have also been on Celexa for quite some time now -- NO Problems! (knock on wood) No stomach stuff, no nothing.
In fact, I'm also on Klonopin for anxiety and told my pdoc that I wanted to try to stop the Buspar because I've heard a lot of how it's weak, like a placebo, etc. Well, after 3 days off it, I was begging to go back on it! I guess I need both the Buspar and Klonopin to manage my anxiety.
So, that was a long answer to a short question - the short answer is that Yes, I have been successful with the combo of Buspar and Celexa!

Maybe one of the reasons it is not considered very effective is that doctors and patients expect it to work as quickly as a benzodiazepine.

buspar is being heavily promoted to docs for augmenting all antidepressants, whether it actually helps or just gives a placebo effect is debatable
buspar is a tranquilliser but different to benzos
