I posted a thread about being apprehensive in starting Lexapro, but I'm now on Day 2 of it and so far so good. No nausea yet which was what I was afraid of. I'm wondering if the words "this med kicks in fast" holds true.....we'll see........
Hope this helps someone who is wondering about progress on 1 individual on Lexapro for depression.
Any questions, please ask:) and yep-you know I'll do the same. Thanks,
Gal

am currently experiencing the SSRI withdrawal syndrome from coming off of Lexapro too quickly.
I had bascially the same with the withdrawal from Paxil, only this is not as severe. Same things though:
brain swooshy zaps when moving my eyes and head,
veritgo/dizziness, fatique, irritability, headaches, hot flashes/sweats.3 weeks ago I had run out it, then the pharamcy ran out of it, which prolonged my prescription being refilled for 3 days. I suddenly developed
a vision problem in one eye (vision blockage and
'flashy lights' stuff, which I thought may have been due to the Lexapro somehow. I went ahead and started taking it again but experienced the side effects it produces. I had not experienced these side effects when I initially got on it in Jan./Feb. so this was weird! The side effects (very bad gas (wierd I know), heartburn, indigestion, low sex drive, irritability) combined with my new knowledge that it gave me the withdrawal syndrome and my sudden partial vision blockage, made me decide to discontinue taking it. I went down from 10mg, to 5 for a few days then to 2.5 for a few days then stopped.
Now, about 2 weeks later I am having really bad vertigo and 'eye motion zaps/swooshes'.I don't know whether to go back to 2.5 mg for a few weeks and brave the side effects of taking it again or weather out the SSRI withdrawal effects since I am off of it. Catch 22 if ever!!
Oddly enough when it was prescribed, it worked very quickly to alieve depression and I thought it was great!
Anyone done this? Any advice appreciated.
(sorry for the repost, not sure it would be see above)

First I was wondering why the switch from Lexapro. I just switched to Wellbutrin myself.
I was on 30mg daily of Lexapro. Eleven days ago, due to side effects I requested Wellbutrin. HOWEVER, my pdoc DID NOT wean my off of the Lexapro...just cold turkey. Recently I've been having extreme anxiety/nervousness so badly that I couldn't bring myself to do anything. a few times I felt like someone just told me the worst thing imaginable and I couldn't shake my feeling of dread for nothing. All of my anxiety medications were/are ineffective during these times.

Hi Lainy, May I ask what the side effects were that you experienced that you felt the need to stop the Lexapro? I'm sorry you are having extreme anxiety/nervousness so badly now-do you think that the Lexapro was helping you with that now that you aren't on it anymore?
Hope to hear back, thank you,
Gal
