SICK OF MEDS- want to give up

Hey all,

I guess I just wanted to express my frustration.
I am so sick of taking medication to stay half-way sane. I resent having to take meds every day and if I skip a tablet, I am a complete mess.
I am taking:
Effexor XR 225mg
Lithium 800mg
Zyprexa 25mg

I feel knocked out, but wonder if I will ever live a life without these tablets.
Just want to give up on the whole thing.
Feel really hopeless.
My mind is thankfully too numb to think about harming myself, but I just feel like i'm fumbling through life on an artificial levelled state.

Any thoughts?

the state of mind your in is probley what i call the "zombie-zone". i was there on risperdal. its a creativeless, half sedated, partialy alive state of being. if your really sick of feeling like you do, instead of cutting off all meds. change or remove the zyprexa. it will probly make a huge improvement.

Without knowing your DX or med history, it would be difficult to make a substantive suggestion for you other than: keep telling your doc how the meds make you feel. Any doc worth the degree should respond to a patient who is NOT responding to medical treatment. Refuse to settle for "OK". If one doc doesn't help you, find one who will.

I started cutting down on my Zyprexa, just a little, and I feel much better now. It may be worth a try if ok with doc.

How long have you been on Zyprexa? At what dose?

There are two possibilities:

1) It's the meds
2) You are slipping into a depression (maybe antidepressant not working anymore?)

I know how you feel. I am on Wellbutrin, Lexapro, Seroquel, Klonopin, and Lamictal. I don't know which are working and which are not. Some days I can function fairly well--other days I barely get out of bed. So what is the sense of all the meds? I see a psychiatrist and I am in intensive out-pt program and yet there still days when I feel complety hopeless. Are all the meds really necessary and which to keep and which to get rid of? Supposedly, I am bipolar but I never have real manic episodes, just mostly depression. Does it ever get better????
