I'm really starting to get fed up with Zyprexa.. the weight gain and carb cravings, the lack of any emotion, the lack of motivation... BUT, it keeps me alive by taking away all my obsessive thoughts about suicide and self harm..
I've not tried any other atypicals, so what would anyone elses suggestions be.. Oh, and I'm in the UK so Geoden and Abifly are out of the question.
I'm not on any other meds, and don't expect I will be as I've been there done that on everything else my pdoc can prescribe me!!
Thanks guys
Nikki

Can't take it any more (or any AP) because of diabetes, but it was a fabulous drug. Slightly energizing and yet relaxing.
Of course, everyone's different. And I wasn't on it for very long.

I have the same problem as you, in another sence, I can't live without the Zyprexa. I've tried to stop it with little sucksess. I've tried Risperdal and Abilify, with no success either, help. The Abilify doesn't help with anxiety, and the Risperdal doesn't help with thoughts. Zyprexa is the best. I'm afraid of the Geodon, I would probably fall asleap all day, like taking a Zyprexa mid day. As much as I wish I could stop the Zyprexa I can't?!. You can lose weight on Zyprexa, I just lost 50 lbs, you just have to get use to the idea of feeling hungry all the time and watch quantity. Some pep meds will help with energy and some emotion. I have no emotion, 5 years of Zyprexa, I just started 300 Wellbutrin 4 months ago and feel some emotions coming back, it ant the same though.

Oooh... I shall have to speak to my pdoc about Abilfy then.. do you know its "generic" name??? (Soometimes meds are called different things in the UK).. My pdoc said to consider Amisulpride, but I can't find a huge amount of info on that.
Abifly does sound like the one for me though.. hope it is out any day now here
Good luck with moving to the UK cybercafe.. its not as bad as everyone makes out *g* Though it is raining today - but thats quite welcome as its been over 90f the past week and not very comfortable here in London!

it never really rained in london, just a little drizzle .... but never too cold, never too hot... never so sunny you have to worry about sunburn... the only thing that bothered me was rollerblading with all the pollution (yuck)- and cobblestone street heh :)
i'll have to look into disability support
while abilify is kicking in

Very few of us go private over here.. I had private medical insurance with my old job, so always went private then.. but private = expensive, so I can't do that.
I recently had to have Nerve Conduction tests on my arms, and the wait was 9 months!!! Luckily my mum paid for me to go private for them. They told me the surgery was going to a 9 month wait, but I will be having it 20th August which will only be a 3 month wait, which is very good. (I took a cancellation)
BUT, the NHS is free for everyone, which is a very good thing.Let me know if you hear anything on Abifly

how much is private? 45 quid a visit? .... doesn't sound too bad, if you only want to go once a month or so ....... regular pdocs are what, once every 3 months? that's just insane

> Let me know if you hear anything on Abiflyok........... i remember typing "abilify uk" into google and for the last few months i got replies from multiple sites and usenet saying "june/july" .... some people asked "the maudsley" maybe saneline or mdf or MIND or the college would know?????

I've never gone private to see a pdoc.. a friend of mine did and was paying £110 an hour.. but I don't know if that a normal price or not. Plus London is more expensive than anywhere else. I know my old GYN was £180 an hour, as I went private on my old med insurance from work.
I'm having yearnings to live in Ontario at the moment!! But then something about London hits me (normally the history here) and I love it again!!
Hope you manage to get over here
