Hi all,
Has anyone tried acupuncture for anxiety/depression?
Did it work?

Yep. Twice weekly sessions as I can afford them (I don't have insurance for either meds, doctors, or acu) and they do help tremendously.
Acupuncture is NOT a substitute for the meds I take. It is an adjunct treatment to help my body deal with the side effects of the meds I take.
Sometimes the sessions even help me to take less of the sleeping pills during stressful times.
If you look at the bottom of the page under Start a new thread there is a search box. Use the option: Search with options.
You type in acupuncture and you'll have a ton of hits from the archives of this site and many different approaches to the subject.
Good luck.

I am a huge fan of acupuncture. It's not covered by my insurance, though. That's probably because the clinical trials aren't done yet...as it's only been helping people since approximately 90BC. ;) It *literally* saved my life from acute, debilitating asthma about ten years ago.
It can be expensive, but I've had some good luck with barter (you could trade free clerical help, janitorial work, or whatever talents you have) as well as sliding scale consideration. Hey, they won't offer it if you don't ask.
It definitely helped me feel calmer, in control, etc., and I slept better than I had in my entire life. If I could, I'd go every week ad infinitum.
Good luck!

For me, it didn't really help. But I also went off
my meds because I wanted to see if I could use acupuncture
instead of meds. I did feel great the day I had acupuncture,
but it didn't last. If I could afford to have it every day
of the week, it would've probably worked...but of course that's
not possible at $80 a pop. I suspect it might be
helpful for very mild depression...but not major, like mine.

i should add that i wasn't on any meds at the time i was previously treated with acupuncture and so was able to go through the comprehensive treatemnt plan, which included qi gong sessions and lots of foul tasting herbal infusions. i couldn't do the whole route again now for my current state of affairs because of the meds i'm on.
