Hi there, u probably know me from all of my sad posts, well i actually had to do something to get attention as i am severly depressed sever anxiety ocd etc.. i slit my wrists last night and ended up in hospital to get attention i had too, then they finnaly gave me something else to try, as they stopped given me ssri's as they kept given me panick reactions, fast hrt beat etc so did the trylics and the snri's made me to manic, they have now given me remeron 30mg take half a pill @ night i have read some bad posts about it mind, about the weight gain BUT i couldnt give a toots aslong as i can get better.. i am home now and am going to take my second tab when i go to bed.. i have the excelant site that the hospital phsyiciatrist gave me all about remeron (mirtazapine in the uk) http://www.neurotransmitter.net/mirtazapinetrials.html

Forgot to ask does anyone have experience with this med? apart from weight gain as i dont give to hoots as long as it makes me better????

Very interesting link there. I hope that the Remeron helps you. Keep speaking up here as long as you feel it necessary. Unless you are being overtly obnoxious or uncivil toward others, you have as much right to post as anyone, and your concerns are just as valid. There are those of us who will be happy to assist you in your efforts to "get well". I'm glad you are still trying.

I was taking it for depression, 15 mgs at night.
Many people cut themselves for the tremendous rush of endorphins your brain releases in responce to the injury. Remeron (and Effexor) are some of the only AD's that have effect on the opiate system.
I took it for 3 months or so and it worked wonderfully. Unfortunately it made me very irritable. In my position this side effect was very distressing.
I regret stopping it now, but jumping back and forth from med to med isn't what my doc wants.
I slept well and ate well (which was good cause I am very skinny 6-1 and 130 lbs)
You will notice that if you take it at night, then you'll feel groggy untill about noon, then you'll feel great (at least for me)Some of those who take it longe term have mentioned the irritability subsides after longer use.

I had the same reactions you got from ssri's and snri's, and am now on remeron, way less side effects so far than any of the others..im on 15mg now at night and its been going pretty good so far, its been a few weeks, I started on 30mg a night and got a bit of pot built up, but i don't really give a sh*t because its working better for me than anything else

hi there anton, just a few questions to ask you seen as you got the same experience than i have with ad's ok.. are you taking remeron with anything else? what do u take them for(depression, anxiety panick) ?and how long does the sleepyness in the day time even though u take the remeron at night.. ? and what do u mean about abit of a pot build up @30 mg? thankyou
Also i was wondering, the doctor said to me if i get a so re throught or flu or cold etc, to stop them as they affect white blood sells or something..what if we get a genuin cold? do we stop them for the duration of the cold? i am confused as i get colds alot..

I'm taking remeron with seroquel, I take the seroquel just before bed, and I also take diazepam now and then, I take the remeron mainly for depression..for the first few weeks I gained a bit of weight but now it's going back down to normal again...and yeah I am also a bit woried about the white blood cell thing...i am thinking of taking a white blood cell formula medication while taking the remeron just to make sure, because i dont wanna have to stop remeron and try something else...
