I have been on a low dose of effexor for a couple of months and have noticed my breasts have increased in size. I was a 34B and now am closer to a 34C. A friend of mine also went up a size and even after switching meds. her breasts have remained larger. She's happy, but I personally don't like having large breasts. Has anyone had this side affect? I guess I shouldn't complain, but I just don't like it.

I'm on a low dose of Effexor XR, 37.5mg. How low of a dose are you on and has it helped at low doses? By the way I'm a male, I hope my breasts don't get bigger!!

I started at 37.5, then went up to 75 a day. Still considered a low dose (under 150). It is listed under side effects, but my guess is it only affects women. (Hopefully for your sake). I think if men were affected that way, we would be hearing more complaints.

Did your breasts get larger because you've gained weight?? What did you weight before you started Effexor?

How interesting. How old are you? Did you experience any weight gain on Effexor? Could you be pregnant? LOL My breasts might have changed in size, went from a 36C to perhaps at 38C. "my cup runneth over!" har har. But my weight has been on a rollar coaster for months, years even. Up and down, up and down. Can't tell which is causing what. I'm cutting this short to read the other posted replies.

I'm 5'4 130 pounds (give or take a couple). I've not gained weight, just breast size - go figure ! I tried going from 75 in the morning to adding 37.5 in the afternoon, but didn't feel any different. Since I don't want to gain weight OR get any larger in the boobs, I'm cutting out the afternoon dose and adding 100 mg wellbutrin. My psychopharmacist says the wellbutrin will boost the effexor. I was on 400 mg of wellbutrin a while ago, and although it increased my sex drive and I lost a few pounds, it didn' help (at all) with the depression - and neither did trying celexa. Effexor started helping immediately. Wish it acted like Wellbutrin.

Let me know how adding 100mg of Wellbutrin helps. My doc gave me about 50 samples of 100mg Wellbutrin when he started me on the Effexor XR and I was thinking about adding 100mg a day. Let me know.

har har that one;) but I have gained weight too LOL I don't like having big ta tas either:( It just doesn't look good-not to mention what can happen to our backs. I wonder if these psych meds have something that affects the mammary glands? (or whatever they're called) I don't like it:(
Very interesting post you started and a lot of replies-I had to, a big issue for me.

I've heard that Effexor can interfere with a female's "monthly". If that were true, increased breast size might be possible. Hormones and all that. Makes me nervous though. I'm not happy being a g-pig to find out long-lasting effects from taking Effexor.
