My daughter is having major nightmares and we are wondering if it's the Effexor. Anyone else have this problem? HELP!

Hi there! I am sorry she is having those, they suck! I have had them too. Very vivid and realistic. I am on Effexor XR. I told my p-doc about it and he prescribed Trazodone 50mg. And told me to take 1 - 2 a night(right before I go to bed). So far one works pretty good. I am not having the nightmares but I still have very vivid dreams that sometimes are a little realisic. But the nightmares are gone. And the Trazodone helps you sleep at night while being an anti-depressant. Which is probably the reason the nightmares are gone. How old is your daughter? I don't know the correct ages for these meds. Let me know how she is doing.
Take care and I hope you all get some sleep.
