Klonopin ? Please anyone reply if possible........

Posted by galkeepinon on July 7, 2003, at 20:07:39

Hi, For the past 2 days-or actually recently, whether it's due to the Klonopin or not, I have been getting (how can I explain this?)
blurry,-ah ha more like "streaks" of rays in my vision at times. (they last for a short time) I'm currently taking:
200mg Topamax
75mg Effexor (every other day)
2mg Klonopin (1mg PRN in afternoon)
2mg Cogentin (2mg PRN in afternoon)

Has anyone ever experienced this on Klonopin or any of the meds I mentioned above?
This is TOTALLY new to me and I am kind of freaking out. Again, this is new to me-never happened to me before, and I have been on psych meds since 1995.

Any feedback if possible, please, would be accepted and of course appreciated.
Thank you,

Gal

Hi,

I do know that Topomax can cause eye problems. I don't know about the other meds but I would inform my Dr.

Rainee :)

I think the Klonopin is doing that to me too. My vision will get totally blurry all of a sudden. I'm also sleeping way too long every day. Hence my post last night about wanting to slow down or stop it. It helped a lot in stopping my panic attacks but it's beginning to become a nuisance. Maybe I just need to decrease my dose some. Please share with us what your doctor says if you talk to him/her.

Hi wingedcat, how long have you been on Klonopin? May I ask? I'll have to find your post. I notice sometimes when I take my 2mg at night, especially late, I sleep way too long too. My doc suggested I try maybe 1mg at night instead because I told him I was sleeping a lot but I also started topamax 2 months ago and I take Cogentin too and Flexaril. But, still, he kind of left it up to me and said if I found myself sleeping too much when I needed to get things done in the day to try to decrease the Klonopin to 1mg at night.
Why do you think it's starting to become a nuisance for you? Have you talked to your doctor? What other meds are you on?

Looking forward to hearing back

Gal

I've never been on the other medications you mentioned you are on, so I don't know if how you are feeling may be reactions to that. They all sound like they could have a cumulative sedative effect. It's weird that these effects are happening all of a sudden for you. Do you feel ok when you take 1 mg at night instead of 2 mg? Sometimes if I try to take less than needed I feel a little physically ill :/

I am on 300 mg/day Wellbutrin SR and 1.25 mg/day Klonopin. I've taken Wellbutrin for about 3 years and it's worked well for me for depression. I've taken Klonopin for 6 months. In December I had tried to stop taking the Wellbutrin and switched jobs and I had a depression/panic rebound. Klonopin helped control the panic attacks, and I think it helps control my moods to some extent. But I am sleeping way too much, even on this low dose of Klonopin. Part of it is my own fault, not getting into proper rhythms and schedules.

The main reason I'd like to stop is that I am going to live at a university next year to finish my degree, and Klonopin definitely dumbs me down and makes it harder to concentrate. I've talked about it with my therapist but not yet with my doctor. I'd like to go to an "as needed" dosage with anxiety medicine while I am going to school, but I don't know if Klonopin is the kind of medication that you can take "as needed" because it lasts so long. My therapist said that anything involving changing the Klonopin dose should be done slowly, that there is no need to rush things unless it's posing a serious problem.

Thanks for replying to me. Thanks for posting, it's nice to hear I'm not alone with feeling this way, although I hope you are feeling better soon. Klonopin definitely has helped but it has its down sides as well.

hi wingedcat sorry it's taken me a while to respond. I haven't tried just taking 1mg of Klonopin at night for a while. It seems like every other day I take 100mg Topamax then I'll take 200mg Topamax etc. But I am ALWAYS consistent with that Klonopin. I'm glad that Wellbutrin works well for your depression-that is really wonderful! No side effects at first? I always wondered about that med-I was on it for about 3 days once but my doc took me off.
I have a had a hard time getting into proper rhythms and schedules also-really bad-I need to work on that-it is so very important for us all. I have a friend who is really good at that-I admire her.
In my opinion, I think you could go on an "as needed" dosage with the Klonopin if I'm not mistaken? I've heard of people doing that. My doc has done that with me before-it worked well, especially when we are in school. We do not need to be dumbed out! LOL
I hope you are doing well, and yes, Klonopin does have its down sides as well as does all these meds, but we can deal if we just work with them. Hope to hear from ya soon! Let me know how you are doing k?

Take care, Gal

Hi,

I don't know what's causing the vision thing but have read that Klonopin can cause visula problems.
