Hello, just found this website and am quite thrilled to hear that I may not be crazy. Been reading about the withdrawal from effexor. My doctor weaned me off of 325mg/day, by taking a pill less for four days until I was off. Been having the brain/eye problems, but also along with not being able to sleep, am having trouble breathing. I wake up out of breath and am quite afraid. I was put on the effexor (75mg. capsules) because I felt depressed and alone, after my son left home. That was over 3 years ago. Please help. Any suggestions?

Definately resume some/all of your maintenance dose and taper much more slowly.
If not with this doc, then find a doc who will do that.

Hi , i had the exact problem when i came of effexor i stared o 35mg and went up to 75 mg mind u as soon as i went up a dose my anxiety started god it was bad been suffering ever since, i had to stop the effexor right away, my m8 is here now, says to tell you when she came of it she had the brain shocks etc and her doc gave her a mild ad to come of the effexor she says it was cipramil (celexa) good luck :)

My daughter told me she has noticed a marked changed in my behavior. I thought I was doing pretty well, but evidently I have been very passive and non caring towards others. (My husband has concurred) So I will resume with 75mg (1/3 of dosage I was taking) and have appt. with my dr. Thanks for your imput.
