I am wondering if I'm just plain mad and the meds are making this clear to me or if the meds are making me crazy right now. I have just been up to 100 mg of Topomax for about 6 days now and it feels like I'm on LSD at times. I feel like I'm in another world and can't tell the difference in if I'm in a dream or awake. It isn't like this all day. It comes in spells. Also, the slightest things that are stressing me out are sending me into MAJOR shutdowns. I am constantly on the edge of a shut down now. Can Topomax do this???? I even had an episode the first day of taking 100 mg of completely dissociating and having no access to my physical body at all. This is scaring me to death. Doc has moved me back down to 50 mg and I see him Tuesday. Please respond to this if you have any comforting advice or experience that can let me know if other people have had similar effects. This really has scared me and I'm tired of shutting down.....

If you had none of these symptoms before Topamax then I'd say you might want to find something else, lord knows there is no shortage of good meds out there.

Same thing happened to me on Topomax, especially the dissociating. Eventually I went completly psychotic and ended up in the psych ward for a few days.
Dissociating is listed as one of the side effect by the way.
I hope lowering the dose helps, but I doubt it will.
I really feel for you right now. I know how you are feeling and what you are going through.
Hang in there and get the topomax out of your system.

There is another thread going here on Topomax ... I certainly understand how you feel! I was on for six weeks, and "like LSD" was exacty how I phrased it. The experience felt like a six-week acd trip. Please look for the other thread, and don't be afraid to tell you p-doc you want to go off this med. I had such a hard time with that ... trying to be a "good girl," be complaint, etc. -- but the drug was truly making me ill. Please take care of yourself and stand up for what you know in your gut is right. Wishing you immediate relief! Temmie
