Dumb question - What is Pdoc?

Posted by PhilipCarey on June 22, 2003, at 16:57:29

Is it psychiatric doc, or primary care doc?

I know that seems incredibly stupid, but I'm used to referring to docs as PCPs (primary care physicians).

Thanks to anybody who responds.

No question is dumb here. We all began somewhere. Pdoc refers to a doctor of psychiatry. I remember having that same question when I first found this board about 5 years ago. Hope you learn as much as I have and that the information is very helpful to you.

Pdoc = psychiatrist or psychopharmacologist here. Occasionally people have used the term to mean "primary doctor" (i.e., PCP), or psychotherapist, but it almost always means psychiatrist.
