I have been taking adderall for about a year. Originally I was taking 20 mg a day with 2 mg of risperdal and 60 mg celexa. I had to discontinue the risperdal recently and before taking it I had always had muscle tension problems in my shoulders and neck (I saw a chiropractor for years). On risperdal the tension magically disappeared. It has returned just a bit on the klonopin but when I recently tried to add the adderall back in, I was practically crippled. The first day it happened, I had taken 10 mg of adderall so the next day I tried 5 mg of adderall and it was just as bad. I'm only taking adderall during the week when I need to study (if I don't take it I fal asleep reading and as a grad student I have a LOT of reading to do)and when I don't take the adderall, my neck and shoulders are much better. What to do? Any suggestions? Thanks, babs

In reply to horrible muscle tension on adderall? supplements?, posted by babs on June 22, 2003, at 15:01:44
Notice your posture when reading. I am on adderall too. I catch myself hunching my shoulders up which makes my neck and shoulders bother me. Try to slowly stretch your neck and do shoulder up and downs to release some of the tention inbetween your neck and shoulder blades. This helps me, hope it helps you.
