Is anyone on Effexor, Paxil and Trazadone?

Posted by NThompson on June 18, 2003, at 13:21:24

Hi all! Just wondering if anyone else is on all three meds at once also? I take 25mg Paxil with 75mg Effexor in the mornings and 50mg of Trazadone at night. I was just wondering how that mixture is working for you. This is only my 6th day on the pills. I started them on Friday the 13th, ironic huh!?!

I still feel anxious and sometimes a bit crappy however, I'm not crying at commercials or just crying for hours at a time. Which is a very good thing. My children don't need to see that. And I'm trying to face things I couldn't before. I have a security door/screen along with my front door and I have opened the front door. The screen is shut but the door is open and I can see the world and the world can see me if they decide to pass by! Along with that the ringer on my phone is turned on and I am answering the phone, even if I don't know the number on the Caller ID! Big step for me. My husband and I are going to Carson City, NV this weekend and we will be around tons of people and I am okay with that. I'm even excited about going! Don't think I'll gamble though, I might stress out about the loss of money and have an anxiety attack. Best to stay away from that.

So no side effects as of yet, well yesterday I went to 75mg instead of 37.5mg per the p-doc, and I had a headache. But I'm okay today. But so far that's all.

Let me know if anyone else is on this triple cocktail too!
Thanks,
Nyia

Hi,

I got a headache too when starting Efexor, and then I went major hypo and rang up and yelled at my doc, it was kinda funny but he didn't think so, anyway then he added 20 mg paxil for the hypomania and it seems to help level out the efexor a bit, I don't take Trazadone but I occasional take Zopiclone for when I can't sleep.

Hi Anton, Thanks for answering me! How long have you been on both the paxil and the Effexor? Mine is only 7 days now. I have a lot to go through, but I didn't have the headache today, so I'm happy with that.

Keep me posted on how you are doing.
Warmest Wishes,
Nyia

Well, at one point a few months ago I was on all 3, but I was tapering off Effexor (300mg) at the same time as starting Paxil. I've been taking trazodone for 2 years at night for sleep. Out of the 3, the only one that's helped me at all is trazodone, but don't let that discourage you. It sounds like things are going well for you so far.

I didn't really have any bad side effects with any of them - oh yeah, except sweating severely at night on Effexor. That really sucked!

Good luck.

thanks for the info. I still have my good and bad times but alot better than when I hit rock bottom. I think that with the realization that I really do want to be here, my family's love and support and the meds... well I feel alot better. I thought things were going to be worst than what they really were. I still get anxiety attacks and my patience is shot, so I'm working on that... but I don't have that desperation feeling anymore. YEAH! :)

As far as the Paxil, I was on that for the last 4 years and I just got worst. I am on it with the effexor and I hope between the two I will do better. I have had 2 "episodes" in the past 2 nights of just getting hot. Not Sweating, just hot. So maybe the effexor is starting to kick in. But, the Trazadone... killer stuff! I take on of those at bedtime and I sleep very well and when I wake up I feel refreshed and ready to go!!!
The other day when I raised the effexor to 75mg instead of 37.5mg, I had the worst headache all day long. So I take my 50mg of Trazadone at bed time, head hurt very bad so I got up and took a second Trazadone(which the p-doc told me to do if I needed to) and I was out in minutes and the only problem was I couldn't wake up in the morning and I was dragging butt all day long. I couldn't get going for nothing! So I am not taking two pills at night again.

I hope your meds are going good and that you are feeling better. Keep me informed of you progress or problems.

Take care
Nyia

Well, for now I am taking Lamictal, which seems to be working, and Parnate - too early to tell if it's helping since I've only been on it for a week. No serious side effects so far with either. It's weird almost, the lack of side effects.

As for trazodone - yes, I too love it. I haven't slept well basically my entire life, and it has really helped with that. There have been times that I took a very low dose and it seemed to really knock me out, but now I'm up to 150mg and that works well without too much sleepiness problem. Although I do have a bit of a hard time getting up. Once I'm up, though, I don't feel tired all day or anything.

Anyways... well, again, good luck. I hope you don't sweat like I did!

Hey there, I hope your new meds work well for you. I did try taking 100mg of Trazadone, but decided that was a mistake for me right now. I normally take 50mg, but the p-doc told me I could take 100 if I needed to. I was out like a light, but I woke up late to take my daughter to school, and then I was drowsey all day long. Maybe as I get use to it... I could take a higher dosage, right now it's good.

Take care and keep me updated.
