Did anyone else have side effects on lexapro the first couple of days or am I losing my marbles?? How could a drug kick in so fast? I have been panicing more and more and feeling shaky during the first week, does it ever stop? When? Anyone have stomach problems on this?

Lexapro, like most drugs, enters your bloodstream quite quickly. You can begin experiencing side effects within a couple of hours.

I had SE's within 24 hours of my first dose. My doc assured me that this could not be so, but she wasn't taking it, now was she? I felt it as sure as you can a drink of alcohol. Loads of nasty problems I hadn't expected to experience. The good news is that they *have* dissipated after about twelve days, and I have been encouraged by folks on this forum that they will continue to do so as I keep taking it. Just try to persevere and it should get better for you too.

Same happened with me. I took 10mg on first day and I thought I was losing it. Cut down to 5mg now for last 4 days and feel a bit better but still feel like I'm in a panic most of the time, especially in the mornings.

> CathyFlight@aol.comTotally normal. Excpect the SE's to get less as the weeks go by but don't expect the anti-depressant effects to kink in for 6-8 weeks.

I felt light-headed after the first dose. Never felt that way on Prozac or Paxil.
Perhaps it "packs a whollop?"
p.s. I'm still on it - but I've had a big personal/family "crisis" - so that has definitely skewed the Lexapro results at this point. Overall, most of the side effects have gone away after about 8 or 9 weeks.

> CathyFlight@aol.comI felt lightheaded and nauseous after first dose. I had a rough 2-3 weeks starting off, but all the SE's did go away, by weeks 6-8 I was doing better, I just didn't realize it until week 9...then I was sure it was working.
Hang in there and good luck!~~~8|8
