For Mattdds and Viridis

This probably belongs on Social, but I wanted to thank you both. After a year or so of "fighting" using Klonopin, I talked with my doc and we both agreed on beginning it again. What a difference it has made. The quaility of my life has improved in a very short period of time. I feel functional and ALIVE. The initial sedation lasted only a few days this time. Things are good. Thank you both for reminding me how important stability is and not "suffering" on the principle of taking a "benzo fear" mentality. Quality of life is what REALLY matters. Shame on the bad rep this good drug gets.
Thank you again.

Kelly,

I am really glad I could be of help. I really wouldn't tell you to do anything that I wouldn't do myself. Like you, I resisted benzos for over a year, even though I had them available.

I found all the horror stories about benzos to be based on hyperbole and sensationalism. I could never figure out why. For me these are the most specific and effective drugs for what has ailed me all my life.

Now that I have a steady dose going, things get better monthly. I feel like my brain is recovering from all the stress! I have way less depersonalization, derealization. And paradoxically, my memory seems to be improving! This is what benzos do to people with anxiety disorders.

I wish you the best. I'm very happy you're doing well!

Matt

Hi Kelly,

I'm glad to hear that things worked out so well!

It really is a shame that so many doctors are afraid of benzos -- some of it may be a backlash against overprescription in the past, and I think a lot of it is driven by propaganda from the pharmaceutical companies, who want to push the latest (still under patent) AD, AP, or whatever as "safer" for anxiety. But benzos really do work for those who need them, as you, Matt, I and others have found out. Plus, they have a long track record of safety and reliability.

Good luck!

Thanks, again - still going well. Yeah! (nm)
