I've been on Strattera for about a month. I'm only on 18 mg, but I'm also on 60 mg of prozac (which makes me a poor metabolizer), so 18 mg seems to be plenty. My original problems with dry mouth and sleep have become tolerable, but constipation is still an issue. And taking metamucil doesn't seem to help much, and I don't really like the idea of becoming dependent on a laxative. Will this problem eventually go away? Does anyone have any tips? Strattera seems to be giving me an extraordinary amount of energy, drive, and endurance, so I don't want to give it up. Could the problem have anything to do with the fact that I'm a poor metabolizer? Is it possible that 18 mg is more than I need?

I also take 60mg of Prozac, but I'm taking 80mg of Strattera. My doctor may raise it. (Yes, that's a lot!!! But it does help, and I really need the help. Guess everybody's different).
It gives me constipation, also. Many drugs do. Citricel comes in capsules/tablets so it is easier to take than the powdered ones. Recently I've been lazy, though. Colace is a stool softener - it comes both plain and with a stimulant. I get the plain kind, so all it is doing is softening things enough so that I can make the right thing happen. I don't use it all the time - just when things are bad. I wouldn't be comfortable using the stimulant kind on a long term basis.
I've been on Strattera for 4 months, and the constipation is still a problem... So you still have a ways to go.
Strattera is really helping me, this is a small price to pay!
