I have been using Periactin for SSRI insomnia
for the past few days. It is an HT2a/c antagonist with ability to raise melatonin. It is over the counter here in Canada, but I believe it is prescription over there in the U.S.
It really works quickly and has a short half life.
1-4 hrs.I will update you later to see if the effect is sustained.

Hi Linkadge. To what extent do you feel the antihistaminic H1 antagonism contributes?

You may have to ask for it, but my mom had a bunch lying around the house here. It is supposed to be availabe without prescription, so give it a try.
I don't think it is the histamine effect that is doing it all. In the past I have taken 20 mg of Celexa with Benadryl (another antihistamine) which only made me very paranoid. When I take the Celexa and periactin I am out in 10 minautes and only wake up once. I take the Celexa now at night, which I never did before.
I hope it lasts.Linkadge
