Interestingly, I lost weight on Prozac and Celexa too (but many people find themselves gaining). My weight went up tremendously on Remeron (worse than any med I've ever taken), also gained a couple on Zoloft.

To answer the question - I have lost 10lbs. over several months on Lexapro. But we are all different, and I have read just as many posts from people complaining that they have gained weight on Lex as posts from people who lost weight.
Hard to tell how you will react until you try.....
Good luck to you!

Give me more credit than that. I feel I need an AD but I don't want to take one that is going to cause me any more weight gain than I've already experienced with Depakote. :(Angel Girl

I understand fully not wanting to gain weight. If I had gained instead of losing weight on Lex I would have been EXTREMELY upset!!!! I have been overweight most of my adult life and I'm still over my "recommended" weight for my age and height.
From reading posts here I think finding an answer to your question would be difficult as there seem to be just as many people gaining weight on the different meds as there are people who lose weight. You may not know for your self until you try each one....which sounds absolutely awful!!!
If you have taken other meds, you may be able to extrapolate how you will react to the meds by how similar they are to each other, and your reactions to each.
Sorry again if I offended you and best of luck to us all!

OkpolosiI'm sorry too. I wasn't in the best of moods when I read your response and I shouldn't have of jumped all over you. I'm beginning to think that my Depakote is not working as well as it used it used to because I'm getting more irritable lately. :( Please accept my apology.

> Angel GirlYES>>>Apology warmly accepted. And believe me I understand the irritability......one of my "problems" that led me to this place (meaning medicated, messed up, etc.).
I can only hope you find a med that will work for you as well as Lexapro has worked for me, without a long trial and error.
And I hope the encouragement and support you get from the rest of us will be of some help in your search.
Best of LUCK to you, we're all pulling for you!!

Thanks for your understanding and accepting my apology and the encouraging words. BTW, I forgot to mention that I also warmly accept YOUR apology.
Onward and hopefully upward,
