Daughter (16 -BP) went to pdoc today for emergency appt. Symptoms seem mixed. Anyhow, this new doc in the practice is weaning her off the Zyprexa (25mg) and adding back the lexapro at 10mg and gradually adding seroquel, starting at 100mg daily and working up to 300mg.
BTW, her blood level tests for lithium and depakote were as follows: lithium = .5 (1200 per day) and valproic = 30 (2000 per day) Doc asked if she's taking meds. Yes, we give them to her and she doesn't ever ask any questions or even look. She just dutifully swallows along with asthma, seizure, other meds.
She did take lexapro before (5mg) but other doc took her off because of mania threat. Never been on seroquel.

From what I have read, I believe that Zyprexa and Seroquel are used for similar symptoms. I guess the doc feels that the Seroquel might work better for her than Zyprexa did. As for Lexapro, the starting dose is generally 10 mg. So hopefully, going from 5 to 10 will be a big help. Please keep us posted on her progress.
