I am currently on wellbutrin 300mg and lexapro 10mg. I gaine weight on wellbutrin, and feel exhausted. Prozac worked great for years, and then it didn't. I never gained weight or felt fatigue on prozac, paxil, or zoloft. Has anyone here had the same reaction? I am wondering how I would react to effexor, Any guesses? Thanks Ginger

Hey!
Just a personal experience, I know some may argue... (different for everyone), but as far as weight is concerned, Effexor made me loose a lot of weight. (I am on 225mg- high dose)
I have put on weight with every other med I've been on (esp. with lithium at first)
So, in that regared effexor may work for you. I have found it very effective, but there are side-effects... just scroll down the list on babble!!!
it didn't make me fatigued either, but insomnia is not a great exchange!
Good luck in what ever you try...
all the best

I think it's hard to tell how anyone is going to react to a particular drug. We're all so different in our responses. I think it's worth giving Effexor a try.
I'm currently on Wellbutrin SR 300 mg/day and Effexor XR 150 mg/day. I've been on Wellbutrin for a long time and it never caused any weight gain, but nothing ever really causes me to gain weight anyway - just lucky I guess. I have had anxiety problems and have been trying different medications to combat it. I've also been in therapy every other week for two years. Prozac and Paxil did nothing for me. Imipramine and Serzone kind of worked. Three+ weeks ago I started on Effexor and had some severe initial side effects that went away rather quickly. Now my only big problem is insomnia, which is relieved with .5 mg of Ativan. Other than that, I'm extremely happy with how Effexor + Wellbutrin is working. I'm not depressed anymore, I'm more sociable, less worried, more self confident, and desire intimacy with my husband more. I hope it continues to work for me.
This is the end of the thread.
