Hello,
I just started taking birth control pills and I'm an absolute mess. I'm BPII and not only do I feel the meds are no longer working (400mg Lamictal, 300mg Seroquel) I feel moody as hell. I could cry over anything. I get so pissed when something goes wrong. I just can't let go of minor issues. My brother chews with his mouth open, I need to leave the room and calm down. What the hell is going on? This started about a week after I began taking the pill. I guess it's obviously related, so will it go away? When? I really don't want to stop taking the pill, so I can deal with this for a month or two, but not any longer. Anyone have similar experiences?
Thanks!

I know what you mean. I have cyclothymia which is similar to BP2. Don't worry it goes away. At least in my case it did. If it doesn't ask your Ob/Gyn to change them after a good 6 weeks (most Drs. say 3 mo). Sometimes there are to many hormones in them. What pill are you taking. I was ok on Levora, Loestrin, and Levilen. All the others I was too moody or I had really bad headaches. Good luck and hang in there.

I had a similar problem. Assuming you aren't having any other serious side effects right now, you might want to give it a couple of months because usually your body adjusts. If you're still having trouble, don't be afraid to ask your doc for advice about trying a different kind of bc pill. I have gone through about four of them and a trial of Depo-Provera. Finally, I've found that Alesse (Avianne generic) is a low enough estrogen dose that the moodiness and nausea are a thing of the past.

I have OCD and depression, and I can't take any of the birth control pills (I've tried several) becasue they make me PSYCHO (sad/bitchy/anxious/you name it!).
BUT, I found that the Nuva Ring (a new type of birth control, this plastic ring that you insert into your vagina and it releases hormones, but in far lower concentrations than in the pills) does not have any psychological effects on me, and it's great! Talk to your dr about it.

I forgot to update my original post, but I just finished my first cycle of NuvaRing and it's going really well! I have the moody/irritable/agitated symptoms, but not anything that my boyfriend and I can't tolerate for a few months. The acne is bad though! I totally broke out. Yuck. I keep hearing that if I stick it out for the 2-3 months my body will adjust, so that's what I'm trying to do. Thanks for your posts!
