Dr. put me on Lexapro last December and I really like the way it works, but I have gained 15-20 lbs since I started on it. Anyone else have this problem???

I have gained about 5-8 lbs and been on it about 2 1/2 months. I think it slows the metabolism. I also have been craving sweets and carbs more on the meds. Now that Spring is here I hope I can control my eating more. Winter was long and it was hard to not reach for comfort foods. I think we have to be very careful what we eat while on these meds, unfortunately.

I, too, have gained 6 or 7 pounds in six months, and I am always scrounging around for (and finding) junk sweets. If I can't find something sweet, I will make a big pnut butter/jelly sandwich. This is after having dinner. I also find that I never have the desire to drink liquids. I never seem to be thirsty.
I, too, had better change my habits cuz I can't afford an entirely new wardrobe! Good luck to us!

I have been on Lex about 3 months and have lost 10 pounds. I guess it affects people differently. Good luck to all!

I am a fitness competitor/personal trainer who has been taking lexapro for almost 12 weeks. I am having tremendous problems trying to loose bodyfat for an upcoming competition and I suspect that the Lexapro may have something to do with it, as my competition diet or my intense activity level haven't changed. I was recently told by my dietician that I may have an adrenal problem...perhaps because of taking and SSRI. I am going to try cutting my dosage back to 10mg.
