Hi
I started taking celexa 3 weeks ago and so far I don't really think its helping my depression symptoms. I mean it has stopped me crying but i have become v.lazy, I just sleep and sleep and do nothing. I also find that I am constipated and if anything putting more weight on. This is really crap.
Also someone mentioned a weird chest sensation when they started lexapro, I am getting this on celexa as I start to drift off to sleep, its very disturbing.
When i took Prozac i am sure it was working quite well by week three, is it normal for celexa not to really be working yet ? Also do the lazy can't be bothered symptoms go away ? I am getting really depressed about the weight thing, so if anything this drug is making me worse. :(. I just feel blahhhhhhhhh.
Anyone else feel like this on celexa?
Thanks janejj

Too much celexa can dampen motivation and cause apathy. I could only tolerate 10 mg before it made me very lethargic.
Try reducing the dose, and add some folate+b12

Hi linkadge,
May I ask what folate+b12 helps with in addition to these sx.
Thank you and take care,
kristen

I was on 60 mg Celexa at one point, and it definitely fucked with me in a bad way. Totally apathetic, lethargic, groggy, bored, and other yucky things.
You might wanna give it another week or two though, just in case.

I just up'd my dosage to 30mg from 20mg. I also started taking it at night instead of morning, and I find I am not half as tired as I was before. Still not perfect, but better. You may want to try and take it at night instead of morning. I also take Folic Acid and fish oil.

Quite a few studies have shown that adding folic acid and B12 to a SSRI meds enhances their activity. I was able to reduce my Celexa to 10 mg after adding the combo. This heped my apathy and other side effects.
Something to consider with your doctor
as SSRI's can cause apathy when the dose
is too high.Good Luck

Celexa works well for me in combo w/ Pamelor. Oh yeah, the new antipsychotic meds work great for depression!!!(You know, Seroquel etc.) Don't be afraid of the category name. None of the other antid's ever worked for me and I mean it. I had to have ECT. MIMI
