Ok. I've been doing quite a bit of research on smart drugs the past couple days. Reason: I have social anxiety disorder, very poor memory, poor motivation, low energy, mental fatigue. I've been prescribed a few Ssri's for my SA with that didn't help at all. I also recently tried out Dexedrine. It did help stimulate my mind but it also made me somewhat anxious. Anyways, I'd like to try out Modafinil, since Adrafinil can't be prescribed in the US. Here's a excerpt from a website about Adrafinil...
"Non-narcoleptic users generally find that adrafinil gives them increased energy and reduces fatigue, while improving cognitive function, mental focus, concentration, and memory. It has been reported that quiet people who take adrafinil become more talkative, reserved people become more open, and passive people become more active."
This would be the perfect cure for me. I know Modafinil and Adrafinil are related but how close? Which one's more powerful. Would I be likely to get the same effects as stated in the above paragraph from Modafinil? I've read about Modafinil cognitive benefits but haven't heard anything about quiet & reserved people being more talkative & open. I would think that it would work just like Adrafinil though right? Any answers are much appreciated. I'd like to hear from someone with social anxiety who's taking Modafinil. Much Thanks, Josh.

Isn't anyone currently taking either of these? Know anything about them?

.I like Provigil (modafinil). It should be pretty easy to get samples since, although it's expensive by prescription, the drug reps hand out samples quite freely. Why not ask your doctor? This is not yet a very controlled substance, and is very good for energy/motivtation (for me, anyway). I still have a bunch that my pdoc gave me to try (although Adderall is better for me). I'd certainly use it again, but don't want to mix it with the Adderall.

I take 250 mg modafinil a day, and for the first time in my life I don't feel like I'm half-asleep all the time. It also brightens my mood, and if I miss a dose, I really notice it. But, while it makes me feel more alert, energetic, and motivated, it does nothing for my concentration and memory. For that, I rely on 10 mg. selegiline.
