I've heard that there is a new antianxity med available that is not addicitive. Anyone know the name and anything about it?

I am going to start taking it in 2 weeks...I don't know if its new or not though.

Not sure, Gabitril (tiagabine) is an anticonvolsant.

Agg... these gaba names are getting me confused.
Pregabalin is the new anticonvulsant that will be indicated for other conditions, including anxiety, when it comes out in a year or so.

I believe you're thinking of Pagoclone. It's in Phase III trials, I believe, with great results/ much less side effects

Unfortunately, Indevus Pharmaceuticals, the developer of pagoclone is in a holding pattern for testing the drug. They are currently looking for a new partner to bring it to the market and anticipates spending another $40 million in research before it does so. No timelines have been set for a new drug application to the FDA. Probably won't see this on the market til at least late 2004.
