Paxil poop out. Should I try Zoloft?

Posted by markmn on March 18, 2003, at 9:31:07

Hi all,

So I was on pax (15mg) for a long time 2yrs and switched to lex (10mg) for about 2months and then went back on pax. Lex wasn't working. Since then I have been very dizzy/foggy headed. My question is should I switch to yet another anti d? Did the high dose of Lex negate any benefits I use to get from the low dose of Pax? Anybody have any luck with Zoloft?

Mark

ZOLOFT is a sad excuse for an ad, IMO (nm)

Im having a hard time right now, but am not suicidal or really all that depressed thanks to the zoloft. Id like to take a little more, but i cant because of psychosis. Different meds work for different people i don tknow if it will work for you, but it defninitlly works for some people.

Zoloft has been great for me in treating my anxiety. Much less sedating than the Paxil I tried.

Rainbowlight,

Did you have to wait before you switched from Paxil to Zoloft, or did you quit one and start the other right away?

thanks

If I remember right I maybe had a week in between stopping the Paxil and starting the Zoloft. You might want to start pretty low on the Zoloft, depending on your tolerance to meds, some people can only take a small dose before muscle aches kick in (this happens to me, I can't go much higher than 50 mgs., but then I am med sensitive). I noticed a difference within hours of starting Zoloft that my anxiety was reduced. I take it in combination with Remeron 45 mgs. and the two are magical together, no anxiety, no obsessive thoughts, and no depression (heaven in my book!) Also, in my case I have to take my last dose of Zoloft at dinner. If I take it at bedtime it tends to keep me awake.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, I just saw your post. I take Lamictal for mood stabilization, the Remeron to keep depression at bay and the Zoloft is added for anxiety. It's weird, on the Remeron alone my mood is bad, on the Zoloft alone my mood is pretty bad, but you put the two together and they work wonderfully. Very weird huh?
